Criminal Justice Reform (Three Volume Series)

Anne Douds’ Criminal Justice Reform is a three-volume series of timely and critically important books addressing crucial aspects of criminal justice advocacy and reform across law enforcement, the courts, and corrections.

Volume I, From Arrest to Bail Decisions, examines nine key areas of law enforcement reform:

* No-knock Warrants
* Neck Holds
* Body-worn Cameras
* School-based Law Enforcement
* Crisis Intervention Teams
* Custodial Interrogations
* Fines & Fees
* Children’s Advocacy Centers
* Bail Decisions

Douds presents a thorough and evidence-based approach to criminal justice reform, highlighting how policing practices can disproportionately affect individuals based on race, economic class, gender, and age.

Chapter 1 outlines the criminal justice process relevant to law enforcement activities before arraignment, while Chapter 2 explores the history of reform efforts in the United States. Subsequent chapters each use a recent national news story to introduce the background and history of a policing issue, followed by an analysis of current law and policy, research findings on necessary reforms, and actionable items for students, including discussion questions and low, moderate, and high-level engagement ideas.

Volume I publication date: May 2024, VitalSource & RedShelf digital adoption for only $19
Volume II publication date: 2025
Volume III publication date: 2026
Comprehensive volume publication date: 2026
